What's the difference between Gel polish and Normal polish manicures you ask? We get asked this question daily, so we thought we would give you a break down.
Normal Polish, or nail varnish, is using liquid polish, that dries by itself. This type of polish is the traditional one used in nail salons, or even at home. You apply a base coat, then two coats of your chosen colour, and once that has dried you apply a top coat. This type of polish can chip easily, but to prevent this, apply top coat every 2 days.
Gel Polish is a thick, hard wearing "gel" formulation which uses a LED or UV lamp to harden it. If you want your colour to last, or want your nails to grow, then this is the polish type for you. The Nail tech gently buffs the nails and preps them, then applies a base coat and places your hand under a lamp for 30secs or 2mins (depending on the lamp). The chosen colour is then applied, placed under the lamp again, repeated again and then top coat and lamp again.
PLEASE NOTE: 'SHELLAC' is a brand of Gel polish, just like McDonalds is a brand of takeaways.
