Feather Touch Brows

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

Different health conditions and medications may make you unsuitable for the treatment so we do an in depth consultation to try and eliminate any problems that may occur.

Some conditions and medications that may not be suitable for Microblading are:

  • Prone to Keloid scarring
  • Skin diseases or irritations such as Psoriasis, Eczema or Dermatitis
  • Heart issues
  • Diabetes
  • High or Low Blood pressure
  • Thyroid conditions
  • Undergoing or have undergone Chemotherapy recently
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers

Here's how to prep your skin for Microblading:
6 weeks before:

  • Discontinue Oral Vitamin A such as Roaccutane, Isotane or Doxycycline.
  • Avoid invasive skin treatments such as IPL/laser, peels, or skin needling.
  • Avoid taking antibiotics, evening primrose oil, fish oil

2 weeks before:

  • No Botox or Fillers 2 weeks before or after your Microblading appointment.
  • Avoid tweezing/threading or waxing brows.
  • No tan or sunburn on your face.

On the day:

  • Avoid any form of exercise
  • Wash your hair the day before/day of your appointment
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, or Ibuprofen

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE DAY:

Please arrive to your appointment 15 minutes early.  We will invite you into our treatment room and go through the consultation form with you where you can ask any questions that you may have.  After that, we'll get you to lay down on the bed and start measuring the brows and outline them with a brow pencil.  A mirror will be given to you to show you where we will perform the microblading.  Once happy with the outline, we do a complimentary brow shape.  The microblading process will begin with the initial "scratches" on your brows.  After that, we apply numbing gel and start on the other brow.  When we have finished the microblading, we apply the aftercare balm and go through the aftercare with you and answer any further questions that you may have.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:

We'll send you home with aftercare balm, please apply a light coat to your brows twice a day for 7 days.  If you start getting scabs, then you aren't applying enough aftercare balm.  Scabbing will pull the pigment out and your healed result won't be at it's best.  Also DO NOT pick any scabs that may have formed.

Things to avoid for the next 7 days:

  • Sweating including the gym
  • Make up on the area
  • Swimming
  • Sun exposure
  • Direct water contact
  • Creams, lotions, skincare or oils - Use only the aftercare balm provided by us

Your Microbladed brows will go darker over the next couple of days and then lighten up.  This is totally normal.

Once healed, you will need to avoid active skincare as this will fade your brows.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS FEATHER TOUCH BROWS?

Feather touch brows also known as brow microblading or feathering is a form of eyebrow tattoo. Super fine, tiny strokes are scratched onto your skin, using a single-use tool that has a row of tiny needles to create the look of hair. Microblading gives the most natural looking form of brow tattooing.

DO MY BROWS NEED TO SHAVED PRIOR?
No. Unlike a traditional tattoo, it’s best to arrive to your appointment with as many natural hairs as possible. We do a complimentary brow shape before starting the microblading procedure.

IS IT PAINFUL?
Pain thresholds differ between people.  Some clients have fallen asleep, where others have felt slight discomfort.  It should never be sore, but also remember it is a tattoo, so it's not completely pain-free.

DO YOU USE DISPOSABLE TOOLS & EQUIPMENT?
We use single-use only, disposable tools to ensure strict hygiene standards are implemented.  Everything is carefully disposed of excluding tweezers and pencils.

HOW ARE THE COLOURS CHOSEN?
We have a large range of pigment colours, to cater from blondes to brunettes.  We will choose the best colour to suit your natural brow hair and skin.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?
For the first 7 days, you need to apply the aftercare balm that is included in your aftercare kit and keep your new brows clean and dry.  Avoid water, creams, sun, swimming or sweating.

If you must wear make up, ensure you don’t cover the tattooed area as this may affect the healing process.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

It varies between person to person due to skin type, genetics, skin care routine and other factors. Brow Microblading generally lasts 1-3 years.

DO I STILL NEED BROW TINTING & SHAPING AFTER I’VE HAD MICROBLADING?
Your hair will continue to grow as normal, and depending on hair colour you may need a tint.  Microblading is a tattoo on the skin.

IS MICROBLADING SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?
Different health conditions and medications may make you unsuitable for the treatment so we do an in depth consultation prior to your appointment to try and eliminate any problems that may occur. We may ask you to bring a Doctor’s certificate from your GP in some cases.

People who may not be suitable are:
- If you use Accutane
- Using Blood Thinners
- Prone to Keloid scarring
- Skin diseases or irritations such as Psoriasis, Eczema or Dermatitis
- Heart issues
- Diabetes
- Undergoing or have undergone Chemotherapy recently
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding

Also people with oily skins don’t hold pigment as well as other skin types, so an additional third session may be required to perfect the tattoo.

CAN I BRING IN PHOTOS OF HOW I WANT MY BROWS TO LOOK?
Of course you can. Please keep in mind that not all brow shapes will suit everyone.

I'VE HAD A BOTCHED MICROBLADING JOB FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE.  CAN YOU FIX THEM?
In most cases, we can! It's best to email us photos so we can assess what needs to be done going forward to give you the best brows in town. info@thebeautychambers.co.nz
